It was a very fortunate experience to join the prestigious annual convention of the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines. CamSur was a great place, and Bicol as a whole.
Shopping was also fun especially for souvenir and pasalubong items, however, it was so sad to note that there are merchandisers who take advantage of tourists money.
One comment I would like to throw has something to do with the Pili nut products. We were accompanied by an acquaintance to PNR, Legazpi City with the though of buying cheap but quality pili nut products, however, it was some sort of deceit. We found out that the Pili nuts packed in plastic bottles are not pure pili nuts. Only the walls of the bottles were lined up with real nuts and the center filled with caramelized sugar. We were cheated of course. A waste of money. I hope the local government and the provincial DTI could monitor this matter because both domestic and foreign tourists could help promote these products, not only the pili nut, by word of mouth. We were so disappointed about it.
On our way home, we dropped by the fruit stalls along the highway at Laguna to buy Lanzones and Rambutans. While inside the vehicle, we doubted on the weight so upon reaching home, we weighed the fruits only to find out that it is short of one-fourth kilo. How can those people manage to cheat tourists, who pay fairly and contribute to their livelihood.
I hope that through this site, it could somehow reach the concerned so that they could do something to correct this. |

I'm so proud and happy to inform everyone that the 5th Mt. Ugo Summer Climb held in April 13-15, 2007 won the 2007 Best Tourism Event in the Philippines - Municipal Level during the 8th Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines National Convention held at CamSur Watersports Complex, Pili, Camarines Sur.
I had the honor to receive the award together with Kap Pacio during the awards nights last October 5, 2007.
Special thanks to all those participants who formed part of this success and to those who gave their support in the staging of the activity.
We look forward for your support come 6th Ugo Summer Climb.
The pictures will be posted later.

The KALAY LUPA MOUNTAINEERING CLUB organizes invitational climbs for mountaineers and adventure trekkers. On its 10th Friendship Climb and also its First Charity Climb, they will be leading an organized trek to My. Ugo via Kayapa-Itogon Trail In Benguet which will be held on October 5-7, 2007. (Manila Departure will be on Ocotober 4, 2007 at 10pm.)
This event requires a tremendous commitment from trekkers and mountaineers, who not only prepare for months to have the stamina to complete this event, but will also raise donations to meet the event's goal.
You can help in many ways. One, if you cannot participate as a climber, you can give to the KLMC First Charity Climb. You will be supporting 1) Domolpos Elementary School, helping provide school supplies, food and medicine to more or less 50 students and its three committed teachers; and the 2) Tinogdan community. You can also sign up as a participant. This is an opportunity for you to conquer Mt. Ugo's summit while helping bring the supplies to the school and the community.
There are many organizations out there fundraising for worthy causes but we hope that you will donate or participate to the KLMC First Charity Climb and help us achieve the goal of climbing for a cause - much deeper than just reaching the top and meeting new friends.
Please take this opportunity to support this charitable event. Your donatiom and participation will do so much help to the humble locals living in that area.
We hope that we can count on you to help thi charity climb.
